Every organism on earth must get a unique name so that it can not be confused with some other organism. These names are in Latin or Greek, languages which are no longer spoken. Creatures are grouped by what they look like: sharks by sharks and whales by whales. This is not done in a willy-nilly way. Everyone has to agree on how it is done. |
